Description
Drawing from a sample of 70ās Lee Bootcuts, the 893 are a stylised departure from our usual 5-pocket denim; with square hip box, flat seat, and slight ākick-flareā from the mid-calf designed to fall easier over boots without a hitch. Meant to be worn a little tight, but comfortable, the teardrop pockets are set wide apart, a feature designed for horse riding to be more comfortable in the saddle, and adding a flattering cleaner fit across the seat.
The Denim is a left-hand twill non-selvedge 13.5oz denim with a brighter indigo blue truer to the colour 1960s denim dying, which will fade out to a pleasing sky-blue over time.Ā
Our first zip-fly 5-pocket model, in keeping with the period of the original example patterned. The zip is a cotton tape and brass teeth āUniversalā from YKK Japan.
Though specific to a defined time period, the bootcut are a blank canvas of sorts, and a more directional style which keeps coming round. From the early days of skate culture, and 70s rock & roll, can be modified in ways keeping with the 60s and 70s styling with embroidery and patches of the period which can give them a point of difference, and the feel of Woodstock and the end of the summer of love.Ā
In denim, the closer-fitting silhouette perfectly lends itself to be worn with tight tees and suede jackets; pressed & creased they cut a sharp shape and a 'little flare' to any outfit.Ā Ā
